The
Humane Education
Network (www.hennet.org) is pleased to announce the 21st annual A Voice
for Animals high school essay contest. This contest is co-sponsored in
part by the Animal Welfare Institute (www.awionline.org) and the Palo
Alto Humane Society (www.paloaltohumane.org).
The contest is open to all students who are currently attending high
school, or are home schooled, and under 19 years of age on February
1st, 2011, regardless of nationality or country of residence. Complete
contest information is available online at www.hennet.org.
All entries must be submitted online using the form which is available
on the web site while the contest is open for entries. No e-mail or
USPS entries will be accepted. No exceptions.
The deadline for the 2011 competition was March 31st, 2011. The winners
will be announced on May 17th, 2011. The deadlines for the 2012
scholarships will be announced in mid-December, 2011. A number of cash
prizes will be
awarded including: $1000 1st prize, $600 2nd prize, $400 3rd prize and
a $1000 prize for an essay describing the best personal and active
involvement in the improvement of animal welfare. The total prize pool
for this contest is $6500.
